You can still pick up new 700's for $350. The 7mm-08 that I bought last year will shoot better than I can..., and the .243 that I bought 4 years ago will shoot sub-moa. My personal opinion, based on the four 700's that I own, is that the 700's made now are just as accurate and reliable as 700's made 20 years ago. I suspect that folks who say Remington doesn't make anything worth buying anymore simply have a personal preference for some other manufacturer, and their opinion is based primarily on that bias. The 700 is still an excellent rifle.
