Yes and no... I believe you will get the better long range performance from the 300 and NO - it probably is not an over kill - it might be added insurance - but I believe the 300 will work at all ranges - down side - it is few cents more expensive than the 250.... upside - the 300 has a much better BC...
I'll be hunting whitetails here in Florida with the chance of shooting some big hogs. The deer are usually around 125 to 150 lbs. but the hogs can get big. Will the 250gr bullet do the job? Sorry about all the questions.
Git the 300 grain and do not even worry about it...
