You already have a .284 cal in the 7mm 08. You already have a magnum in the 270wsm. If whitetails are the only concern I don't see a real need for either of the fine choices you've listed in the 7mm's (.284's). Both are excellent cartridges though and will serve you well. 280rem is limiting when it comes to factory ammo, great reloader cartridge. The 7mm rem mag is the most popular magnum in NA and as such otc ammo readily available. Downside more recoil...not terrible by any stretch. Cost of ammo is higher.

338 federal might just be your baby. 308 case necked up to a 338 bullet. Recoil is like 3006 with 200gr pills, ammo is available from federal/fusion. Whomp with not a lot of speed, a 0-300 yard choice. Different, 338 brings big frontal, good caliber for NA. Just a thought.
