That gobbler's beard is over 11" long...Probably over a foot...
In my turkey hunting experience of over 40 years and after seeing many gobblers from different states and one Canadian province, I would say that it is HIGHLY LIKELY that that gobbler is 3 years old or older..
Of course, spurs are the best indicator of age...Generally a two year old will have 3/4" to 7/8" spurs...A 3 year old will have 1" to 1 1/8 " spurs.. Anything over 1 1/8" is probably 3 years old or older...
However, most 2 year old gobblers have beards from 8" to 9 3/4 " long... Of hundreds of gobblers I have examined, I never remember seeing a 2 year old bird with a beard much longer than 10".... Without seeing the spurs, I would be willing to bet next week's paycheck that the gobbler in the picture is at least 3 years old..
