Not exactly a food plot, but......
I am doing some work with one of the old family church's in south Alabama. The old cemetary is basically full, the only open area has some old unmarked graves and a couple of the recent burials uncovered bones of who knows who so that area will not be used anymore. We managed to acquire a couple of contiguous tracts of land that should provide enough grave sites for a few hundred years if designed properly. We are going to clear about 2 1/2 acres, one acre for the new cemetary usage and the rest for parking. The sandy soil should be good for centipede grass, I think. I did the soil test already. I guess the question is will there be enough warmer weather left this year to plant centipede seed and get a stand before frosty mornings hit, ususally in later Oct?. Anybody have another choice for a better grass choice?
