It's already got a safety. Pull on the back of the bolt and turn it to the left so it locks on the receiver. You can make a d-loop mod to make this easier. Haven't worked on a hunting load. I just plink with whatever I can load it with, though I wouldn't shoot it far enough on deer to even worry about figuring out some special load
