Crossbow hunting or bow hunting here in Alabama has to be done from treestands for the most part. And not some 12 foot buddy ladder stand either. About 25 feet off the ground is the minimum. I know of no parent that lets their 8 year old kid go 25 feet up a tree with a lethal weapon. Especially one like a crossbow that could literally take their finger off if they got it in front of the string.
