This is pretty hard to do. On the large end it's a pretty easy choice, I'm not a long range shooter so I wouldn't need anything fancy and I'm really partial to lever actions. If I were to plan an elk hunt where I would test my long range skill I'd choose the .338 marlin express but for anything else the 45/70 would work great. It's at the small end of the scale where it's tough to limit yourself.
