For me it all depends on where I'm at and how full the freezer is. If Im bowhunting at one of my urban spots, first deer that comes through has an arrow in it, except button bucks. If I get towards the end of the season and I'm short on venison, just about anything is fair game. Gun hunting in Illinois, I try and hold out for the big guy. In Michigan, our rule is 6 point or better the first day, then after that the standards go down buck wise. Soon anything 4 or goes better gets shot. Just like hunting Kuk, if we don't shoot it, the neighbors will. Lately though, we'd rather take a big doe than a small buck. In the end I think it all depends on how full the freezer in. The only deer that always gets a pass from me is button bucks. I just can't get myself to shoot one thinking what they could look like if they make it another 3 years!
