I've never understood why Winchester decided the world needed a .270 in the first place with only .007 difference from the 7mm.But all the big companies do strange things.Win's .284 was a fantastic cartridge well ahead of it's time.They decidd to intro it along with a couple new guns one of which was the 88.The mag was short so they had to seat the bullet deeply substantially reducing the amount of powder in the case.Rem introed their .280 along with a semi and pump.Here again they underloaded the case so it would function well in the semi.Dumb and dumber!
