O' Connor didnt start repping the .270 win for years after it came out and even then he nevber did to the extent people believed him too. He liked the 7x57 and 30-06 just as much but commonly stated that the ".270 with 130 grain bullets is all that is needed for most big game". The .257 bob is a shortened 7x57 by the way. And a 25-08 wasnt made popular for the same reason as a 27-08. There was already a suitable long action based on a better parent case in that caliber.
