Raspberries and blackberries are low to the ground and spread by dropping "canes".

If what you saw was more "tree" like, it might be a mulberry. There are a few growing around my neighborhood and I tend to snack on them when I jog since no one else does The mulberry trees around me (NW burbs, IL) have fruit ripening on them at the moment.
