I would not suggest heating up the carbon shaft as it can cause the individual layers to separate. As for how to get it out.....I don' t know of any way with the adhesive materials that I normally use.

As for the washer issue...yes, it should be used. The washer generally stops the blades from camming back too far and cutting into your insert or shaft.

In most cases the rubber band does roll right back over onto the shaft during the shot.
