You maybe able to heat the end of the shaft and melt the glue that is holding the insert in place. Just be careful not to over heat the carbon shaft. A hair dryer may do the trick.

On the mech. head the rubber band should slide up the shaft as I understand it. I shoot the Spitfire heads and they do not have a rubber band on them.
