ok i think im on board with the train of thought here but i have always wondered boattail bullets "destabilize" more then flat base bullets from my .30-30, 303 and .22 mag? does the "pressure wave" catch up with the bullet in a non uniform manner and exaggerate manufacturing variations more common to boat tail bullet bases? maybe it has something to do with the bullet drasticaly slowing rotationaly and maybe the longer bt's fishtail? could it maybe have something even have something to do with the low pressure zone behind the bullet and the way it changes within the sound barrier?
