don' t quote me on this, but i think they shoot formaldehyde{spell check} in the horns to preserve the velvet with a needle. the velvet is still full of blood and it will preserve it. otherwise i' m assuming it would get pretty raunchy smelling. i would call a taxidermist like everyone else suggested. good luck with it. nice mulie. what part of colorado ?
