If recoil is an issue, install a Limbsaver recoil pad, and that will get rid of alot of the felt recoil. I was amazed at what the Limbsaver pad did for my .300 winny.

For what it's worth, the only scoped rifle that bit me above the eye was my 'ol .270. Years ago, happened when I took a shot while lying down. Ouch!!!
