RE: anyone hunt mule deer or elk?
nidahoscott,
Your comment about having 20 elk run at you, and having to jump behind a tree, brought a smile to my face.
In 1979 when spotting just before my first elk hunt, I heard the thunder of many hooves coming my way at a running pace. At first, I had no clue, then I remembered hearing something just like that in an old western. I couldn't figure out how so many horses got loose, though. The pounding hooves were coming straight at me, so I moved behind a scrubby pine (I was above treeline). When the large group of elk, exploded into my view, just 15 yards away, I almost wet myself. Good thing it was a few days before the season, because I would never have even gotten my bow up, I was in such a state of shock.<img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>
