RE: How long of a shot?
yellowlabman...
Sound to me like you' ve found a good load for the gun..........I' d stick with it!!
Going to 150gr of pellets is just going to open up your groups. You might be able to get a " little" better groups by combining the 30 & 50gr Pyro pellets to try loads of 80, 90, & 110gr - but other than trying loose powder, I' d say go kill something with what you' ve got. You could try the Powerbelts - but if you did, I' d go with the 348gr Aerotips as they seem to hold accuracy better.
As far as shooting distance goes - that really has to depend on what you' re confortable with. That load you' re shooting is probably going to be close to 2" lower on target at 100yds, so you can plan accordingly or maybe raise your site 1 notch and split the difference for a 75yd zero (I like to shoot about 1" high at 75yds myself). Get in some good practice at 75 & 100yds using a large, deer size target and see if you are in the good kill zone at those distances. If you aren' t confortable with what you see - limit your shots to 50yds...................hunting ethics is everyone' s personal call.
Good Luck!!!
