I haven't tried that but I do get better accuracy using a "dry patch lube method". I use 7 parts water with 1 part ballistol. Soak my patches and then let them dry. The water evaporates and the patches are uniformly lubed with the ballistol. A 7 to 1 ratio is my most accurate. Other than that I use plain bore butter but it isn't as consistant in regards to accuracy as the ballistol. Like everything else even lubed patching seems to require some experimentation. That's what makes it so much fun I guess.
