I'm really sorry to hear about your hand..that is terrible..then you are aware of the make up of the baitcaster..
The most problem I've had with them wasn't the springs and tiny stuff..it was assembling the drag and crank back..which would appear on the surface to be the easiest step..If I was an expert I'd fix your reel for free..but I'm not..I'm about 50/50 LOL and the main reason I don't take my nice ones apart.
Possible you have a part worn out..or a spring that is worn.I just got done getting my 11 bass rods ready..actually Matt owns 3 of them..we share. I took Power Pro 20# off of most of them and will mostly use 12 pound Trilene this year..the only ones i still use braid are with the jig and horny Toad
10 pound is too light for our Florida structure..and even 12 pound..you better know your rod and drag real good.
Again..sorry about that hand of yours..is there any chance it will get better?
