I do not use a flash light and where I hunt there are a lot of fields so that is where I hunt. I prefer to stay out of the woods for fear of making noise and noot being able to see where I am going, although my night vision is pretty good. I would suggest sticking to trails as best as you can when walking in while it's still dark if you're forced to hunt the woods. I'd also recommend walking in a little earlier so that things can quiet down moore before it starts to get light out. Remember that even deer, coyotes, raccoons, etc. make noise and occasionally break a stick or two when walking. In the dark it's very hard for a Turkey to see you when he's above you in the roost. I've set up very very close to roosted birds to have them drop right into my setup without ever knowing I was there.
