Pickups yes...Quads not so much.

Quads are light enough that the tires will slip before it causes trouble for the differential. In a pickup, if you use 4wd on pavement, the tires don't slip as easily and it puts incredible stress on the transfer case.

I have a Bombardier that is going on 8yrs old. It is full time 4wd. I ride it on pavement from time to time...with no problems to the bike. It does chew the hell out of the front tires, though.
