Ethics are largely subjective. So if your moral compass is saying no.... then you probably already know the answer.

I cannot speak to law in your state, but in VA where I live, what you described is illegal. Tags are non-transferable and it is illegal to tag an animal harvested by another hunter. The season bag limit here is 3 birds per license year, be them shot spring or fall.

I know, like you know, that four dead turkeys is four dead turkeys, but thats the way it works.
