On public land I pull out all the stops early ,and try to get one buck down as quick as I can. IMO every day I or another hunter steps into the woods the odds go down. And the more more we use a stand or similar routes through the woods we just educate them buggers
Sure, the rut is a brite spot in the season - a clean slate as you will.
I have relied on those magic Rut weeks to bail me out before, but I try not to do that as much.
Besides I have a Looong season - and I get tired, hard to get up, to cold, to wet...etc, etc.
But come the opener I am all piss and vinegar
