Thinking of turkey hunting with my hand-me-down Savage 24 .223/20 ga. this year. This shotgun is a fixed mod. choke and was wanting opinions on whether to get it threaded for chokes. The walls are think enough to thread for Remchokes (I figured would be able to find the greatest variety of remchokes for 20 gauge). Is it a good idea getting it threaded or not worth risking the gun??
I had a Belgium Browning A-5 threaded for choke tubes 20+ years ago and it worked out nicely. I would only use a qualified gunsmith who has a reputation of quality work and is experienced in threading barrels for tubes.. It isn't cheap either.
