Default Browning BAR lightweight stalker

I am looking at buying a new browning BAR Lightweight Stalker in the synthetic. I know the guns been around awhile and browning has a good quality reputation. I am just wondering if anybody who owns one or knows anybody who does could tell me what they think of them. I do hunt in some pretty cold weather situations in WI so I wonder if there receiver can hold up to it. I don't plan on putting a scope on it. I do some sitting some stalking. When sitting, my shot yardage is usually within 125 yards and I get into some thick stuff when stalking so I thought this would be a good all around set up. Im getting it in a 308. Any opinions would be appreciated.
