Our buck to doe ratio is still to high, probably about 5-6 doe's for each buck. But on the plus side our bucks are bigger than they ever have been. As a group we are considering a EAB rule of 2 doe's before a buck kill. This would accomplish 2 things. First it would help bring the buck to doe ratio closer to where it should be, second it would help bring the average age of our bucks to the 3 1/2-4 1/2 year range so there would be more bucks in the 150+ range. I guess my point is, if you don't like what the DNR is doing manage it your own way.
I would love to do it my own way but when I am stuck in the CWD zone and am in EAB when our doe population can't take another year of intense harvest and the DNR handing out free doe tags like there's no tomorrow I can't. O and not to mention the fact I have amish as neighbors who will shoot anything that walks. Had one amish shoot 21 deer in one season cause he could.
