It's not the call it's the placement you are having problem with. Get the call back in your pallette , it should be about 1/2 inch away from the fleshy tissue in your throat. You will need to trim the calls tape so you don't gag. Hold the call with the sides of your tongue and allow the air to run down the crease in the middle of your tongue. Drop the back part of your jaw to change the pitch. Double reeds are the best to start with and Quakerboy's Foam fit is a great starter...
