We had such an early winter that the leaves, and berries froze on many of the trees. That was followed by deep snow, which you would think would not give the turkeys much to eat.

The turkeys just adapted to the conditions, roosting in the trees during the day, eating their fill of hackberries. I think they're a lot tougher than we give them credit for.
