Hunter 2006,the lighter the reed the higher the pitch in most cases, unless the reeds have no stretch to them.If your looking just for a higher pitch than I'm not sure if I would even purchase a call with a cut in the reed.You dont have to have cuts in the reeds to call turkeys in.The clear tone you get from a call that has no cuts in it will work too,and a light double reed like H.S's starter double or there double D will work.Most all these fascinating cuts in the latex of diaphragm calls is to add rasp to your calling.The thickness of the latex and how much the reeds are stretched very the tone and pitch of the call itself.
