I recently won a new Weatherby Vanguard Stainless in .240 caliber, in a raffle. I exchanged that one for a .300 Winchester Magnum, which I thought would be useful for more game options. I am now in the market for a new scope to put on the gun. I read the previous thread poll about the scopes people use, which was useful.

My question is what are some things I should look for in a good quality scope? I know a lot of people say Zeiss and Swaroski, but I don't have that kind of money now and want to start shooting with it soon. I am looking to spend about $300 - $400.
