Which powder makes a lot of difference.
With some of the ascorbic acid powders its normal to get 20 or 30 shots before cleaning. You also need to take special precautions to keep the humidity out of it unless you live in a dry area.
Pyrodex the first sub and a very good powder, usually shot 2 to 4 times depending on the gun and load then swab.
777 a very accurate powder, it some times gets a very hard residue in the area just in front of where the bullet sits. You need to swab every shot.
Blackhorn, The clean when you get home powder, will shoot accurate all day without any swabbing, it is good to clean the carbon out of the flame channel between the primer pocket and the touch hole with a drill [turned by hand ] just take out the carbon not any metal. This powder is more expensive than some but not as expensive as 777 pellets. Since it reduced the size of my groups beyond any of my expectations I really like it, I also like cleaning the gun at home and shooting it at the range instead of all the swabbing. Lee
