I haven't done so but I've read and heard that it's kind of a crap-shoot. Some folks are able to throw a centerfire barrel on and be fine and some have to do all kinds of work to make it function. Usually the issues consist of improper headspace, not enough power from the hammer spring, excess play between the barrel and the receiver. Mike Bellm has created a lot of parts that remedy these issues. Check out this site if you're interested...

As far as scope alignment... If you know how to align a scope, then it'll be aligned when you mount it to the barrel.
