I guess the word got out that these were great cameras and the company started outsourcing their production and parts to some Chinese company and they started using cheaper parts and cameras in their new models to make a larger profit. Whenever this happened, Bushnell starting using the same cameras in the Trophy Cam that ScoutGuard had in their original cameras. so basically, the Bushnell Trophy Cam is a ScoutGuard550, original model, in a Bushnell case.

Check these websites out. These 2 cameras are not that much different. But overall, sounds like the internal parts in the ScoutGuard got downgraded w/ their new models. Not that big of a change though.
Scoutguard is made by HCO which may have US contacts but are made in China. Some of the HCO reps post on the chasingame forums.
I hadn't heard anything about new cameras being different quality and I bet that they would like to be told that this rumor is out there and see what their response would be ..
