glew I study everything, as you know QDM turns a couple month a year hobby into a 12 month a year obsession. Its pretty simple we over harvested our doe herd for years (giving our doe fawns a free pass, which we no longer do) thus reducing the average age of our doe herd from 3.5 years of age to 1.5 years of age. (just like we did for decades to our buck population here in PA.) Now because the average age of our doe population is now alot younger our doe herd now produces less fawns.
Just incase you didnt know, doe fawns, 1.5 year old doe's and 2.5 year old doe's produce alot less fawns on average than 3.5, 4.5 and 5.5 year old doe's.
And by the way, the reason my bucks in SE. OH. have larger antlers than bucks in ME. etc. isnt because they have better nutrition (Our deer's diet is made up mostly of natural browse)its because OH. has mineral rich soil and ME. doesnt. Pike
