You can solve the problem, by using Weaver Style Extended Rings. These rings will allow you move the scope much farther to the rear.

I think Millet makes one of the better sets of extended rings. Might check this site out...

Down near the bottom of the page on the right they show a set of extended rings... of course you would want to mount them going the other direction... to move the eye piece back towards the rear...

Might try to send a PM to underclocked - he has a scope on his and he knows his stuff.
