When I passed fifty I made sure all of my rifles had sights on them. I inherited a Marlin 336 earlier this year with an old Redfield 3X9 and sight through mounts. I trashed the mount and went with a Weaver base and rings to mount it closer to the barrel. It is a tackdriver now at 100 yds (1" 3 round group).
