Hunting from the ground is my prefered method but you must have many things in your favor in order to have a chance. No matter how well you plan or how hard you work they are smart and have the edge. If you can find a Natural Blind with the wind in your favor and prepare your hunting gear buy washing it in scent free detergent, also I believe you must use scent killer or they will nail you nearly every time your out there. I shot my first Deer a Buck last week and this is my first year ever hunting, listening to those who have been Hunting for years paid off for me. You must blend in and have a good choke point or find a place where they move through consistantly. You have some evidence that your spot is such a place so scout it hard and try to look up the trail and see what they see. Look for spots that will conceal you and give you a shot as soon as they clear your cover like a root ball, rock ledge that gives you a good line of sight, down tree tops or thickets etc. A 20 yard or less shot distance if your new to the sport like I am or less is a great help because you will get excited when they apear. My Heart rate is up so much I litterally shake and it's hard to control for me, just before I sight in it seems to ease up but not much. The rush is something new to me and it's adicting to. Good Hunting!
