Its the same way just east of you here in central Illinois.
Access to private land is tough and in most cases you have to out bid some one on a lease.

I personally feel the deer numbers are way down here. I think some areas have simply been way over hunted. Most guys here all say the same -they are seeing few deer and during the gun season it is amazing the low number of shots heard compared to a few years ago.
The State of Illinois is going to seriously screw up deer hunting.
