Ya i am also thinking a 308 Ar platform. It would be a good reason to buy one. My shoulder is bad and there talking surgery so recoil is a big issue.

But with a .308 I can get a light rifle and still handle the recoil well enough to get a lot of practice with it. And by the way, a muzzleloader in 50 caliber is going to give you some pretty good recoil. If you have to try lowering the charge of powder till you get the hang of it and then work up to a full charge.
