l. it is carried with the tree straps in the up position. if you have the chain type cables, they can be folded in. one end of the strap is hooked around the part of the stand that bites into the tree, the other end of the straps are hooked around the next to the last rung on the platform.

2. they are a lot more comfortable to carry if you are wearing a jacket, but the carrying straps can be adjusted to help some.
