I'd say its good out to around 150 yds at least. I use it stricly as my "Brush" gun. I should say I don't use it to shoot through brush, but I like it for short distances. Shorter gun body wise. If I think I may have shots at 200 yards I use my .270. If I have shorter shooting lanes or in the thick stuff, I'll go with my 30-30. Its a great gun and as isnipe said, probably more deer have fallen to that gun than any other, especially east of the Mississippi.
