Zeke, my favorite scent use method involves laying a scent trail to my stand. If you are hunting in a funnel or tarvel corridor, you can literally lead a buck right to you. Spray some doe in heat urine on a rag and attach to a length of string approx four feet and loop it around your ankle. Just spray your boots really good with scent killer, and rubber boots are best for controlling human scent. Take the long way in to your stand and try to criscross some deer trails on the way in. Any buck that is out cruising and crosses that scent trail is likely to follow it right in, often grunting as he comes. WhenI get to my stand, I'll walk a cricle aroun my stand about 20 yards out, then hang that rag on a branch. I usually use white, as any breeze that catches it will make it look like a deer tail or ear flicking which I feel helps sell the set up a tad more. Also, even if you aren't seeing scrapes on deer trails near your stand, making your own mock scrapes will encourage deer to scent check them, and freshen them up. Good luck!
