In my area of Louisiana, the "Primitive Firearms" season (which includes certain single shot cartridge rifles) consists of one week in mid-November and one week at the end of January. Scopes, in-lines and smokeless powder are all legal. All firearms and bows and cross bows are legal for the entire period in between the Primitive seasons. Harvest limit is one doe plus one buck per day, with a total limit of three does and three bucks for the year.
