I only use straight fletching, 3.5 vanes and use fixed blade thunderhead 125's I have no problems with "planing".

I never liked a spinning arrow, only serves to slow it down. While only a little yea the act of fletching imparting spin is comparable to the arrow towing a small parachute.

If the bow is tuned right the arrow will fly true regardless of type of fletching used.
