You can shoot it, pull the breech plug and push the load out, or pull the bullet and sabot and dump the powder out. Shooting it means cleaning it. Pulling the bullet and sabot and dumping the powder might not get all the charge out. Taking the breech plug out and pushing the charge through will leave powder stuck to your breech plug grease. So weigh the options.
I always shoot it because then I just swab the barrel and wipe down the worst off the breech plug for the next day. Not like I'm going to salvage what comes out anyways. If it's going to be a few days before the next hunt, then I'll pull the breech plug and clean it as well. And hey, you get to shoot your gun too!
