didnt mean that to be nasty, i own both calibers in question and have shot new england whitetail with both as well as elk and mule deer with the seven mm. shoot a good bullet and make a good shot it wont matter within the given parameters. furthermore i can drive tacks with the 243 so when available i take a head shot with it and ther is absolutely no hesitation theyre dead, pretty unethical sounding to me. As for 7mm being over kill i dont think there is such a thing, what makes it overkill, damage to the animal? once again SHOT PLACEMENT, if you cant make an ""ethical"" shot then you need practice not a different caliber rifle
