IMO you do not need magnum slugs for deer hunting...any of the top end 2 3/4" slugs will work...remember that foster type slugs will be very eratic out of a rifled barrel...

I shoot a Remington 1100 with a fully rifled barrel and have had great results from Hornady's 385grain SSTs (which are hot!)...accuracy is good out beyond 100 yards...but would limit shots to 200 yards...

Winchester's Partition Gold / Platinum Tips and Remington Solid Copper slugs should all work good as well...
