Judging from the torn open trash sack on my back porch, Reese peanut butter cups are best for racoons. Peanut Butter is OK for almost all critters, but that candy smells stronger than PB. And many critters have developed a taste (addiction?) for chocolate.
Actually, you can eat the candy and use the fragrent wrapper for bait.
